In October, both Google and Microsoft released tablet computers that would face Apple’s iPad tablet. They are trying their best to be huge threats to Apple by launching superb tablet computers with amazing specs, features and designs. It seems that Apple is having a hard time competing with Google with the latter releasing seven-inch and ten-inch tablets at the same time. Their ten-inch tablets even have a higher resolution than the Retina Display on the iPad 4.

For now, let us talk about Microsoft Surface and the iPad 4. Which one is worth selling an iPad for?

Display

Apple’s fourth generation of the iPad is really impressive with its Retina Display, which was introduced with the iPad 3. It is just eye-candy to watch videos or films on the iPad 3. Its 9.7 inch screen looks crisp. The iPad 4’s resolution is 2048 by 1536 pixels with 264 pixels per inch.

On the other hand, the Microsoft Surface comes with a 10.6 inch screen, making it great as an ultrabook. However, its display is lower than the iPad 4, with its resolution of 1366 by 768 pixels with 144 pixels per inch. The Surface also has ClearType technology which protects the tablet from any scratches.

Operating System

The Surface comes with Windows RT, which is slightly different from the Windows 8. However, it does have Microsoft Office, like Excel and Word. On the other hand, the latest Apple tablet has the latest operating system from Apple, which is the iOS 6. The iOS 6 has 200 more features than its predecessor.

Processor

The Microsoft tablet has 1.3 GHz Cortez A9 CPUs, encased with the superpower Tegra 3 T30 with quad core chips from NVIDIA. Microsoft also added ULP GeForce graphical processors and 2 GB of RAM. The tablet then is lightning fast. On the Apple’s side, the fourth generation of the iPad runs on A6X chip processor which is twice as fast as the A5X processor. It also comes with 1 GB of RAM. So if you want to use a tablet computer for gaming, then you should sell an iPad for the Microsoft Surface tablet computer.

Camera

It seems that Microsoft did not really focus on the camera part of their tablet computer. However, in their defense, there is really no need for a heavy rear camera for such a big tablet.  The Microsoft tablet only has a rear camera with 1.2 megapixels. The front camera, used for video chatting also has the same number of megapixels. On the iPad 4, Apple gave the rear camera 5 megapixels. The front camera has 1.2 megapixels. However, it must be noted that even though the rear camera has better megapixels, it is still awkward to take photos with such a big tablet, so it is not really an advantage.  If you want a great ten-inch tablet, camera should be the least of your worries.

So there you go! Those are the comparisons and differences between the iPad 3 and the Microsoft Surface. So which do you think is better? Comment below!
